Pese Mai at Victorian State Schools Spectacular

On September 14th four of our amazing singers participated in the Pese Mai Pasifika choir as a part of Victorian State School Spectacular. Kenan Moors, Eden Ausage, and Jamie-Lee Kalati took centre stage leading the group with Hannah Moors providing support as a part of the choir. This year was the first year of the choir in its Pese Mai form. With a focus on helping engage students with school through music and community the 45-piece student choir rehearsed at various schools who were involved in the group, we even made the trip up to Taylors Lakes Secondary College. The goal…. to perform ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ by Crowded House in Tongan, Samoan, and Maori in front of over 10,000 people at the Victorian State Schools Spectacular. As a part of the choir students got to take part in recording and ensemble workshops run by Pony Music and Halo Vocal Ensemble to help develop their singing and performance abilities. After all their hard work the choir blew away audiences as part of the Victorian State School Spectacular at John Cain Arena. If you couldn’t see the amazing show live, you can watch it on December 14 on Channel 7 and 7Plus at 7 pm. Luckily we have some behind-the-scenes photos to share with our school community. Such amazing work by our awesome students and a special thank you to our Multicultural Engagement Team, Leighana Ngatokoa, Felise Tovio, and Haven Morehu. Without their assistance, this wouldn’t have been possible.
