On Thursday the 24th of April, Narre Warren South P-12 College held an assembly in recognition of ANZAC Day. College Captains Somayeh Ahmadi and Ella Larche led the assembly with an explanation of the history of ANZAC Day, and Principal Justine Smyth spoke about the importance of ANZAC values and how we can still demonstrate them today. We were fortunate to hear from Dandenong-Cranbourne RSL President Lance McDermott about his history of service and the different ways we can show respect for the ANZAC legacy. College Vice Captains Elaha Akbari, Diya Chandapeta, Zahra Ibrahimi and Selena Meas conducted the rest of ANZAC Day service, including the reciting of the Ode of Remembrance, playing of the Last Post, observation of a minute’s silence and playing of the Reveille. The assembly concluded with the performance of the Australian and New Zealand national anthems by Kenan Moors, and was wrapped up by our Primary Captains, Elijah Lui, Ysabella Olidana and Victoria Ty. We commend all members of the school community for their respectful participation in this important assembly.
