Yesterday morning, 20 students embarked on a journey from P-12 all the way to Town Hall Station.
After one student calling it quits 6km in at Hallam Hungry Jack’s, 45km, 50,000+ steps and 13 and a half hours later, we finalllllllly made it to Town Hall Station!
Along the way there were plenty of memorable moments — avoiding eye contact with some interesting characters in Dandenong, placing some very large McDonald’s orders, blocking the paths of other pedestrians, walking past the scene of a car crash at Spaghetti Junction in Springvale, some questionable bathroom conditions at Dandenong Skatepark, and even hearing, “You said we were 4km away 4km ago — how do we still have 4 km left?”
The students demonstrated the PRIDE values in a way you don’t always get to see in the classroom and showed incredible resilience throughout the journey. We had four stragglers who we were waiting for at almost every road from IKEA onwards. At one stage, we had almost ruled them out from finishing, but they proved us wrong and made it all the way to the finish line — super impressive stuff!
A huge thank you as well for the much-needed snack delivery at Dandenong Skatepark.
Most importantly, we raised $2,000 for Beyond Blue and Foodbank. An amazing effort from everyone involved!
